Morning in Tangier: the old kasbah and medina above the Strait of Gibraltar, Cap Spartel, where the Atlantic meets the Mediterranean, and the Caves of Hercules.
Drive south-east into the Rif mountains and arrive in blue Chefchaouen in the late afternoon, with time for a first walk through the lanes.

Day 4 · Fes – the medina
Spend the morning with a licensed local guide in Fes el-Bali, a UNESCO-listed maze of thousands of lanes: the famous leather tanneries, the craft quarters, madrasas and fountains.
The afternoon is free to shop in the souks or relax in your riad.
Day 5 · Fes → Ifrane → Midelt → Ziz Valley → Merzouga
Cross the Middle Atlas via Ifrane and the cedar forest of Azrou, home to Barbary macaques, then the high plateau around Midelt.
Follow the palm groves of the Ziz Valley down to Erfoud and Merzouga, at the edge of the Erg Chebbi dunes, for dinner and the night.
