From the shore to the dunes: the small desert in a day
Fishermen’s caves, an off-road track by the ocean, a home-cooked couscous and golden dunes.
First stop: Sidi R’bat, with its wild beach, fishermen’s caves and shells on the sand. Next comes a 20-minute off-road drive between the dunes and the Atlantic, then the Massa River, where you look out for migrating birds such as the rare bald ibis.
After a break in Tiznit, the Silver City, the road climbs into the Atlas foothills. In a Berber home, you’re served tajine, couscous, seasonal fruit and mint tea.
In the afternoon, it’s time for the “mini Sahara” dunes, with an optional camel ride. Last stop: the Youssef Ben Tachfine dam, before heading back.
